Why 'Healthy' Frozen Meals Aren't

The box says "protein bowl." The marketing says "wholesome." The ingredient list says otherwise.

Read the fine print

Most frozen "healthy" meals survive months in a freezer because they're loaded with sodium — often 700 to 900mg per box — plus preservatives, stabilizers, and "natural flavors" doing a lot of heavy lifting. The chicken was cooked who-knows-when, three states away.

The protein lie

Many boast about protein while delivering 18 to 22 grams in a 300-calorie box that leaves you hungry by 3pm. Then you snack. The "healthy" meal becomes a $5 appetizer.

Fresh isn't a marketing word

Fresh means cooked this week, from ingredients you recognize, in a kitchen in your city. It means 35-plus grams of protein because the meal was designed by someone who eats like you do — not by a food scientist optimizing for shelf life.

Frozen was the old convenience. Fresh delivered is the new one.
